Officials have confirmed that the execution of Nidal Hasan, the former army psychiatrist responsible for the Fort Hood shooting that killed 13 people, will be a public event. The execution, which will be carried out by firing squad, is scheduled for 1 PM on Thursday, December 3 at Fort Hood, Texas.

Livestream Details

In an interview with Real America’s Voice, Pete Hegseth, the Pentagon secretary, stated that the execution will be livestreamed, with further details to be provided soon. This marks the first military execution in the United States in over 60 years.

“

"It was a radical Islamist attack in uniform inside the ranks, and so he’s going to get a firing squad of soldiers, as it should be, and we’ll make sure that people are able to watch it, that it’s public, because people need to understand there’s serious consequences for these types of things," Hegseth said.

Background on the Case

Nidal Hasan opened fire at a medical processing center on the Texas base on November 5, 2009, killing 13 people and injuring dozens more. He was sentenced to death by a military jury in 2013 and has been held at Fort Leavenworth in Kansas since then. Hasan exhausted his appeals last year, paving the way for Donald Trump to approve the execution this week based on Hegseth's recommendation.
