A film production in Livingston, Montana, has sparked controversy as it appears to reenact elements of the killing of Renee Good. The movie, titled Pawn Shop, produced by the conservative media company Daily Wire, was allowed to continue filming despite local concerns about disruptions and its portrayal of immigration issues.

Background

The production was temporarily halted earlier this month after residents raised complaints about road closures and the film's depiction of the Trump administration's immigration policies. Pawn Shop, which reportedly stars Danny Trejo and Harvey Keitel, follows an ICE agent trying to escape a mob intent on freeing a detained immigrant.

During a city commission meeting last week, residents voiced their grievances regarding the film's impact on the community. They noted that little public notice was given about the filming, which impeded access to essential services like a food pantry. The sound of gunfire during the shoot was also unsettling for many.

Community Concerns

A video surfaced online showing a scene from the film where a female protester drives a car into law enforcement agents, knocking one officer down as another fires his weapon. This scene drew significant backlash due to its resemblance to the fatal shooting of Renee Good in January.
