Andrew Mountbatten-Windsor has successfully challenged the legality of search warrants that led to his arrest in connection with the Jeffrey Epstein investigation. The ruling was made by Mr Justice Hilliard at the High Court in central London.

Legal Challenge

The former prince brought a judicial review against Thames Valley Police regarding the search warrants issued by the Recorder of London, Mark Lucraft KC, at the Old Bailey. On February 19, which was also his 66th birthday, Mountbatten-Windsor was arrested on suspicion of misconduct in public office.

Background of the Case

The arrest stemmed from information uncovered in the Epstein files, alleging that Mountbatten-Windsor, while serving as the UK's trade envoy, shared sensitive information with Epstein, a convicted child sex offender. Following his arrest, police executed searches at his residences on the Sandringham estate and Royal Lodge in Windsor.
