Three sisters from London, Jane Adetoro (36), Christina Walters (32), and Rebecca Walters (31), collectively decided to end their own lives, a coroner has ruled following an inquest into their tragic deaths. Their bodies were recovered from the sea off Brighton in the early hours of 13 May.

Background

The inquest, held at Woodvale coroner’s court in Brighton, revealed that the sisters had made a trip to Birmingham shortly before their deaths. They visited the former home of their mother, Janice Adetoro, who tragically drowned in 2010. On 11 May, they traveled by taxi to Birmingham, arriving at Linton Walk at 11:36 PM. This location is near Brookvale Park lake, where their mother lost her life.

They returned to their flat in Greenford, west London, at 1:28 AM on 12 May. DCI Mark Cullimore from Sussex police stated that there was no CCTV footage to indicate their activities during their time in Birmingham.

Final Hours

On the evening of 12 May, the sisters took a pre-booked taxi to Brighton, arriving near the seafront at 10:21 PM. They were last seen alive on CCTV from the beach at 2:42 AM on 13 May. The bodies of Jane Adetoro and Christina Walters were located by a RNLI lifeboat crew, while Rebecca Walters' body was found on the shoreline of Brighton beach.
