Earlier in April, Google launched an AI-powered dictation tool that operates with local models. Now, the same team has introduced a new competitor to the AI note-taker Granola, named Google AI Edge Foresight.
Key Features of Google AI Edge Foresight
The Mac app functions entirely offline, utilizing the on-device EmbeddingGemma 2 model, which boasts 740 million parameters. This allows it to capture meeting notes across various applications, including those from in-person meetings.
The app features a split-screen view, enabling users to write shorthand notes on one side while displaying AI-generated notes on the other. Similar to Granola, it allows for manual note-taking during transcription of meetings. Additionally, users can:
- View the transcript of the meeting.
- Chat with the Gemma 4-powered assistant for answers.
- Upload documents such as PDFs, Google Docs, Microsoft Office formats, plain text, Markdown, and web bookmarks to create a knowledge base.
