David Ellison, the chief executive of the newly formed media conglomerate Skydance, has denied accusations of politicizing the company, despite his close ties with Donald Trump’s administration over the past 20 months. In remarks made during a press briefing on Tuesday, Ellison acknowledged a "good relationship" with the current administration while discussing the recent merger of Paramount Skydance and Warner Bros Discovery, the parent company of CNN.
Key Statements
"We have a good relationship with this administration," Ellison stated. He emphasized the importance of maintaining connections across the political spectrum, saying, "I also had a really good relationship with President Biden. I have a good relationship with [Republican South Carolina senator] Tim Scott, and I have a good relationship with Governor Gavin Newsom. I think it is important to talk to everybody on both sides of the aisle. When you’re operating within a business-friendly administration, you should always have those relationships."
Ellison further clarified, "We want to speak to everybody. We do not want to politicize the company."
