Jio Platforms, led by Mukesh Ambani, is set to launch its initial public offering (IPO) on October 21, aiming to raise approximately $3.8 billion. This IPO is anticipated to become India's largest listing to date, with shares expected to list on October 28.
Context
The current record for the biggest listing in India is held by Hyundai Motor India, which raised $2.9 billion in 2024. Additionally, the National Stock Exchange of India made its market debut last month after a successful $2.3 billion IPO.
Developments
Sources familiar with the matter, who were not authorized to speak to the media, indicated that the proceeds from Jio's IPO will primarily be used to repay debts incurred by its telecom division. Notably, Jio Platforms counts Meta and Google among its significant foreign investors and also operates in the fields of AI, cloud, and enterprise networking.
