Shares of SpiceJet dropped over 2 per cent to ₹9.10 apiece in late afternoon trade on the BSE.
Clarification from SpiceJet
On Monday, SpiceJet clarified that the Directorate General of Civil Aviation (DGCA)'s regulatory monitoring should not be interpreted as a new finding of safety deficiencies against the airline. The budget carrier, which has been facing operational and financial challenges, stated that it is aware of the DGCA's ongoing regulatory monitoring.
Routine Safety Audits
The DGCA routinely conducts safety audits, surveillance, and spot checks of airlines as part of its regulatory oversight. SpiceJet emphasized that it has undergone various regulatory exercises in the past, and the current monitoring should not be seen as a new declaration or finding of safety concerns against the company.
