Voters disapprove of Trump’s handling of the economy and cost of living, says poll in new low recorded by NY Times/Siena.

Approval Rating Decline

Donald Trump’s approval rating sank to 36% just two weeks before the midterm elections, marking the lowest recorded in a poll by the New York Times/Siena College. Most respondents expressed frustration over his handling of the US economy, cost of living, and the Iran war.

In an October survey of approximately 3,494 likely voters:

  • 59% disapproved of Trump’s job performance.
  • 52% planned to vote for the Democratic candidate in the upcoming election.

Key Issues of Disapproval

Much of the disapproval toward the US president was linked to economic concerns:

  • 73% of registered voters disapproved of his handling of gas prices.
  • 69% disapproved regarding the cost of living.
  • 64% disapproved of his management of the economy.
  • 65% disapproved of his handling of the Iran war, which has persisted for nearly eight months and contributed to rising gas and oil prices.
