Virgin Group has announced plans to launch cross-Channel train services from London in 2030, aiming to compete with Eurostar for the first time since the Channel Tunnel's opening. The company has unveiled a mock-up of its future train, promising a design inspired by its airline, cruise, and hotel divisions, featuring flash interiors, gourmet food, and possibly a bar.
Future Train Features
The new trains will be manufactured by Alstom, with 12 units ordered. Virgin aims to enhance customer experience and design, drawing inspiration from its various sectors:
- Virgin Atlantic airport lounges will influence pre-departure and onboard social spaces.
- Food offerings will reflect the menu of its cruise line.
- Design elements will be inspired by Virgin Hotels.
