The NTPC Vidyut Vyapar Nigam (NVVN), a wholly-owned subsidiary of NTPC, is set to commence commercial operations for a 500 MWh battery energy storage capacity shortly. This announcement was made by NVVN Chief Executive Officer Somes Bandyopadhyay on Thursday during the 18th India Coal Summit, organized by the Indian Chamber of Commerce.
Key Developments
Bandyopadhyay stated, > "Very soon we will be able to put 500 MWh BESS in commercial operation and target to commission a further 500 MWh by this financial year."
Battery Energy Storage Systems (BESS) utilize batteries, either individually or in groups, to store electricity generated by power plants. Bandyopadhyay also highlighted that the government has provided a scheme for 3,000 MWh, indicating NVVN's commitment to battery energy storage through various methods.
