Two Latvian men have been released on bail after being arrested at RAF Molesworth in Cambridgeshire, a site used by the US military and NATO for intelligence operations. The arrests occurred at 2 AM on Thursday when the men, aged 32 and 26, were found inside the base.
Investigation Details
The investigation began four hours earlier, around 10 PM on Wednesday, when military police discovered an abandoned vehicle near the facility. Upon further inspection, they found a small hole in the perimeter fence, leading to the discovery and arrest of the two men inside the base.
Initially, the suspects were arrested on suspicion of trespassing on a prohibited site and causing criminal damage. They were later further arrested under section 4 of the National Security Act 2023 for entering a prohibited place for a purpose prejudicial to the UK.
