Conservative commentator Katie Zacharia has been offered the position of White House press secretary, as confirmed by a White House official to the BBC. Zacharia, who is currently a communications adviser for Trump Media & Technology Group, will become the president's sixth chief spokesperson across his two administrations.

Background

Zacharia previously had a brief tenure as a spokesperson at the Department of Homeland Security. Her predecessor, former White House Press Secretary Karoline Leavitt, left the role in August and has reportedly taken a position with Fox News. The BBC has reached out to Zacharia for comment regarding her new role.
