Richard Bronson, an entrepreneur with a unique background, has launched a startup called Commissary Club, aimed at helping ex-convicts reintegrate into society. Having spent time in prison himself, Bronson understands the challenges faced by those reentering the workforce.

Background

In the 1980s, Bronson was a partner at Stratton Oakmont, the infamous brokerage firm led by Jordan Belfort, known as the "Wolf of Wall Street." The firm collapsed in the mid-1990s due to misconduct allegations. After leaving Stratton, Bronson started his own firm in South Florida, achieving significant success until legal issues led to his downfall.

“

"I built a $100 million business taking these small cap companies public," Bronson recounted. "Some of the success, however, came through breaking the law — securities laws — and ultimately, as I knew inevitably would happen, I had to pay the price. I lost everything, and most significantly, my freedom."

The Mission of Commissary Club

After serving his time, Bronson faced difficulties finding employment, which inspired him to create Commissary Club. The platform serves as an employment-focused social media site for ex-cons, named after the prison store where inmates buy essentials.
