Ben Affleck, the acclaimed actor and CEO of Artists Equity, has recently gained attention for his deep understanding of artificial intelligence (AI) technology. Following the sale of his AI filmmaking startup to Netflix for a reported $587 million, Affleck showcased his knowledge of neural networks, machine learning, and other AI concepts during interviews, particularly on GQ’s "One More Question" series.

Affleck's Journey into AI

In a recent episode, Affleck shared, "I’ve always been kind of into computers since I was young," as he discussed the evolution of AI in filmmaking. He explained how his interest grew when the industry transitioned from analog to digital film. Affleck elaborated on complex AI terminology, including machine learning, transformers, and tensors, while ensuring the interviewer, Zach Baron, understood the concepts.

He went on to describe how neural networks are utilized in filmmaking for tasks like edge detection and feature extraction, which help in processes such as green screen removal. Affleck acknowledged that his Hollywood status allowed him access to emerging AI technologies, including a visit to OpenAI.
