Neko Health, co-founded by Spotify’s Daniel Ek and Hjalmar Nilsonne, is making waves in the health tech industry with its advanced body scan technology. This innovative scan screens for issues related to blood, skin, and metabolism. Founded in Sweden, the company has raised nearly $1 billion and has recently expanded its operations to New York, boasting a global waitlist of over 300,000 people.
The Vision for Preventative Medicine
In an interview with Farooq Abbasi of Preface Ventures, an investor in Neko Health, he expressed optimism about the startup's potential to revolutionize preventative medicine in the United States. Abbasi highlighted the challenges within the U.S. medical system, particularly the low utilization of preventative care due to cost concerns. Currently, Neko Health charges $500 for a one-hour scan, which is not covered by insurance but may qualify as an acceptable expense for those with Health Savings Accounts.
