A 25-year-old dual UK-Iranian national arrested in connection with a suspected terrorist plot at RAF Fairford has been released on bail. He was detained on Thursday in the borough of Westminster, London, under suspicion of preparing terrorist acts as outlined in section 5 of the Terrorism Act 2006.

Investigation Details

The investigation is ongoing, with counter-terrorism police confirming that searches of two properties have now concluded. This arrest marks the sixth individual detained in relation to the case. Last weekend, five British nationals in their mid-20s were also arrested on suspicion of explosives offences and terrorism, but they have since been released on bail.

The arrests followed the sighting of three suspicious vans near the military site in Gloucestershire. Vicki Evans, the senior national coordinator for Counter Terrorism Policing, described the investigation as "hugely complex" and stated that specialist teams are "interrogating multiple lines of inquiry." She emphasized:
