The Nvidia Shield TV Pro, initially launched in 2019, has seen a price increase of $100, now retailing at $299.99. This change comes as the era of generative AI continues to disrupt technology supply chains, leading to a significant rise in component costs.
Price Increase Details
Effective immediately, the Shield TV Pro's price adjustment reflects the broader trend in the industry where devices with memory or storage are becoming more expensive. A spokesperson for Nvidia stated,
“"Starting October 2, SHIELD Pro will be priced at $299. The cost of components, including memory, has increased substantially across the industry."
The Shield TV Pro debuted at $199.99, while a non-Pro variant was available for $149.99 before its discontinuation. Despite its aging Tegra X1+ processor, the device remains a strong contender in the streaming market due to its capabilities in AI upscaling and hardware decoding.
