Australian actress Rebel Wilson has achieved a significant legal victory in a case involving the co-producers of her debut film, The Deb. The co-producers had accused Wilson of sabotage, dishonesty, and breaching contracts, but the New South Wales Supreme Court dismissed their claims and awarded Wilson nearly $400,000 after she countersued.

Background of the Case

The Deb, a musical comedy directed, co-produced, and starred in by Wilson, had a budget of $22 million but only grossed $335,000 at the local box office. The co-producers, Amanda Ghost, Gregor Cameron, and Vince Holden, alleged that Wilson's negative statements about them online contributed to the film's poor performance.

In July 2024, Wilson claimed in social media posts that the producers attempted to block the film's release, embezzled funds, and behaved inappropriately towards her. The producers countered that Wilson's actions were intended to damage their reputation and devalue the film so she could buy it from them.
