Kaylub Giamanco, a 36-year-old carpenter, has spoken publicly for the first time about the harrowing day he confronted a school shooter at Silver Rail Elementary in Bend, Oregon. The incident, which occurred on October 15, resulted in the tragic deaths of three children and a teacher.

The Incident

Giamanco, who has been hailed as a hero for his actions, described his immediate response when he learned of the shooting. He told a 911 operator, "I have to go in. People are going to die." His children attend the same school, which heightened his urgency to act.

Initially, Giamanco thought he was witnessing a prank when he saw a man dressed in black and armed with a gun approaching the school. However, the situation escalated quickly as he witnessed the shooter, Griffin J John II, a 16-year-old former student, fire his weapon and climb over a school fence.
