“You Can See Everything” has made a significant impact at the box office, achieving a $15 million opening weekend, marking it as the second biggest opening for a documentary film. The nearly three-hour film premiered last month at a secretive screening during the Telluride Film Festival and is currently showing in 855 theaters. In comparison, the weekend's top film, “Street Fighter,” is available in 3,575 theaters.
Despite its limited release, the documentary has reportedly sold out 2,000 screenings and has received overwhelmingly positive reviews, boasting a score of 99% on both Rotten Tomatoes and Metacritic.
The Story Behind the Film
The documentary chronicles the rise and fall of Elizabeth Holmes, the founder of the blood-testing startup Theranos. Holmes attracted significant support from prominent figures in Silicon Valley but was ultimately sentenced to 11 years in prison for defrauding investors. This narrative has been explored in various formats, including books, podcasts, and scripted miniseries.
