A 28-year-old British mountaineer has tragically died after falling approximately 61 metres (200ft) while descending from the summit of Torrecerredo, the highest peak of the Picos de Europa range in northern Spain. The incident occurred on Thursday afternoon, according to local law enforcement.
Incident Details
The mountaineer fell down a vertical gully on the east side of Torrecerredo, which stands at an elevation of about 2,649 metres. The Spanish Civil Guard for the Asturias region reported that the climber's remains were located after a rescue team conducted an aerial search of the area.
