Local residents near RAF Fairford experienced a sudden evacuation early Sunday morning following reports of suspicious activity involving three vans parked in the village of Whelford. The heightened security measures around the airbase, which has been a focal point for US military operations, have raised concerns among locals.

Residents have noted significant changes in security protocols at the base, including the installation of heavy vehicles and concrete barriers at various gates. One local remarked, "In the prior few weeks they have put heavy, very heavy vehicles across all gates," indicating that authorities are taking security seriously.
Suspicious Activity Reported
The situation escalated in the early hours of Sunday when members of a local WhatsApp group began discussing the presence of the vans. Julian Tudsbery, a long-time resident, recounted how one individual reported the suspicious vehicles around 1:30 AM. When attempts to contact the airbase police went unanswered, residents resorted to calling 999 for assistance.
