Twenty-seven people have been killed in two mass shootings hours apart in South Africa, marking a tragic escalation in gun violence in the country.
Details of the Shootings
On Saturday evening, 17 people were killed when eight gunmen stormed a bar near Johannesburg, injuring 15 others. In a separate incident in the early hours of Sunday morning, 10 people were killed outside an entertainment venue in a township near Cape Town, with an additional 11 injured.
In Johannesburg, the gunmen opened fire on customers outside the bar before continuing the attack inside and setting two vehicles ablaze as they fled. Police reported that 13 men and 4 women were among the deceased, but the motive for the attack remains unclear.
