The stepson of Sir Ranulph Fiennes, Alexander Millington-Cotes, has revealed that he is in contact with police regarding concerns about the explorer's wellbeing. Millington-Cotes, who is estranged from his mother, Louise, Fiennes’ second and current wife, stated that he intends to speak with the police this week.

Police Contact

In recent days, Millington-Cotes received a call from an officer at Cheshire police, which he described as a source of hope that the concerns raised by friends and family are being taken seriously. He noted that the officer appeared interested in his observations regarding Fiennes’ condition. Millington-Cotes remarked,

“

"That’s the one bit of hope."

Concerns About Fiennes

Questions have been raised about the welfare of Sir Ranulph Fiennes, who has Parkinson’s disease and is currently under the care of his wife, who holds power of attorney. Among those expressing concern is Joseph Fiennes, the actor and relative, who wrote to the Office of the Public Guardian in January, highlighting worries about Ranulph being isolated from friends and family. Notably, he has not been seen in public for two years.

Millington-Cotes, 31, expressed disappointment with the authorities' responses thus far. In a statement released on Monday, Cheshire police indicated that they do not have "safeguarding concerns" regarding the 82-year-old explorer, asserting that he is living in an appropriate setting with suitable care.

Ongoing Concerns

Despite the police's reassurances, Millington-Cotes and a group of friends remain concerned that the police do not have the complete picture. Reports suggest that Fiennes has spent over a year living under assumed names in various care homes, and even attempts by the King to check on him have reportedly been rebuffed by his wife.
