Lucid Motors has reported a significant decline in its electric vehicle (EV) production, building 2,954 vehicles in the third quarter of this year. This marks a 54% drop compared to the same period last year, as the company intentionally limits production to better align with demand.

Declining Production

This decline represents the third consecutive quarter in which Lucid's production has decreased, reaching its lowest output since the first quarter of 2025. This period coincided with the launch of Lucid's second EV, the Gravity SUV. In terms of deliveries, Lucid managed to deliver 3,806 EVs in the third quarter, which is roughly consistent with the second quarter but down by about 200 vehicles from the same quarter in 2025.

Struggles in the Market

Lucid Motors has faced challenges in attracting buyers for its luxury EVs. Notably, in five of the last six quarters, the company produced more vehicles than it delivered. The new CEO, Silvio Napoli, has been leading efforts to simplify operations, which have included:

  • Laying off approximately 1,500 employees
  • Streamlining leadership
  • Eliminating a second shift at its Arizona factory
