Prime Minister Andy Burnham will host Volodymyr Zelenskyy at Downing Street on Wednesday to reinforce the UK's support for Ukraine amid the president's challenges with Donald Trump. Burnham emphasized, "We are with you for as long as it takes," signaling the UK's commitment to Ukraine's defense.

UK Support for Ukraine

In conjunction with Zelenskyy's visit, the UK government announced it would expedite the delivery of British-made lightweight multi-role missiles (LMMs) to help Ukraine defend against a new wave of Russian jet-powered drones. Additionally, Burnham and his ministers are advocating for a comprehensive international ban on the export of Russian liquefied natural gas (LNG).

Previous Meetings

This meeting marks the third engagement between Burnham and Zelenskyy since the former took office in July. Their previous interactions included:

  • Zelenskyy's visit to a naval base in Portsmouth in July.
  • Burnham's trip to Kyiv in August.

Zelenskyy's visit comes at a time when Ukraine is facing intensified missile and drone attacks from Russia. This follows Trump's controversial deal to purchase Russian diesel and his remarks suggesting Ukraine should have a new leader, which Zelenskyy found surprising.
