President Donald Trump announced a new program on Tuesday aimed at rewarding individuals who report fraud allegations, suggesting he could serve as "the arbitrator" for decisions regarding the program. This initiative, which was unveiled alongside JD Vance, the vice-president leading the White House’s taskforce to eliminate fraud, aims to provide compensation to tipsters whose information leads to convictions or significant federal enforcement actions.

During the announcement, Trump addressed potential disputes that may arise when multiple individuals submit tips for the same alleged fraud. He stated:

“

"I was just thinking, when you do these things, sometimes there’s a dispute as to who turned ’em in and who didn’t turn ’em in, who’s supposed to get what and when, you know."

He continued, indicating his willingness to take on the role of arbitrator:

“

"So I am going to do something, which I think people will like, I will be the arbitrator of all of these decisions. In other words, I’ll determine whether or not the person is deserving, and I will be very generous, believe me."

This remark elicited laughter from those present, though it remains unclear if Trump was serious about this role. According to the Department of Justice website, the department retains "sole discretion" in issuing rewards and managing the program.
