At least eight people were injured when an Avianca flight encountered severe turbulence and made an emergency landing in Miami early on Friday. The flight was traveling from Medellín, Colombia, to John F. Kennedy International Airport in New York when it had to divert due to strong turbulence.

Emergency Response

Miami-Dade Fire Rescue reported that one person was rushed to a trauma center with severe injuries, while seven others were taken to nearby hospitals in ambulances. The airline confirmed that the uninjured passengers were rebooked on other flights to continue their journey to New York.
