A key energy facility supplying Kyiv with heating and electricity has been hit in a Russian ballistic missile attack, according to Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky. The Darnytska CHP-4, or CHPP-4, along with a residential building, was struck in an attack that Zelensky stated came with "no early warning from our partners."

Casualties and Damage

Kyiv Mayor Vitali Klitschko reported that one person was killed and 13 others injured in the missile strike on the apartment block late on Tuesday. Four individuals are in serious condition. This incident follows a recent announcement by US President Donald Trump regarding an energy ceasefire agreed upon by Russia and Ukraine, despite multiple Russian strikes occurring after the announcement.

“

"Ukraine supported an energy ceasefire. Russia is targeting yet another power plant and the lives of our people," Zelensky stated on social media after the strikes. "This is absolutely unjust: when they are destroying our energy infrastructure, and Ukraine is not even receiving early warnings about ballistic missile launches."

International Response

Zelensky emphasized the importance of global awareness regarding the situation, urging that the United States must recognize the ongoing conflict and those responsible for prolonging it. This marks the second consecutive night that Kyiv has faced missile attacks from Russia. Following strikes on Monday night, there were concerns that the US had restricted access to critical intelligence that would help Ukraine track incoming threats. However, Trump denied this, stating, "We are helping them and we are sharing intel. We want the war to end. So we're working with them and with Russia on getting the war to end."
