A 40-year-old man was arrested early Wednesday on suspicion of plotting to attack the Texas state capitol, authorities reported. The Texas Department of Public Safety stated that it received "credible information about an individual planning a violent attack" scheduled for Thursday in Austin.
Arrest Details
The tip was received on Tuesday evening, prompting SWAT officers to make the arrest around 3 AM on Wednesday at a residence in Converse, Texas, near San Antonio. The suspect, Benny Caldera Jr, is currently jailed on a $75,000 bond and may face charges including felony terroristic threat against a public servant.
