JioHotstar, the streaming platform boasting over 500 million monthly active users and backed by Indian conglomerate Reliance Industries, is set to expand into the Middle East and North Africa (MENA) region through a partnership with Starzplay, one of the largest streaming services in the area. This new initiative follows JioHotstar's recent launch in the U.K., Canada, and Singapore.

Partnership Details

Announced on Tuesday, the partnership will feature a dedicated section for JioHotstar within the Starzplay app and website. This section will offer a variety of Indian films, TV shows, originals, and reality franchises in multiple languages. This approach differs from JioHotstar's earlier launch in the U.K., Canada, and Singapore, where it debuted as a stand-alone service, replacing Hotstar.

Strategic Expansion

The expansion is part of Reliance's broader strategy to establish JioHotstar as a global streaming platform after achieving significant success in India. The MENA region is home to one of the world's largest South Asian diaspora communities, providing a substantial potential audience for JioHotstar's offerings.
