The owner of Phase Eight, Hobbs, and Whistles has reported a cyber-attack that may have compromised customers’ personal data. TFG London, a South African-listed company, identified the cybersecurity incident affecting its three UK-based retail chains on Sunday.
Impact on Operations
Despite the attack, TFG stated that its stores remain open and trading. However, some IT systems are currently unavailable, leading the company to pause all online orders as a precautionary measure.
An investigation is underway to determine whether any personal or sensitive information has been compromised. TFG has committed to notifying affected individuals or organizations if the investigation reveals that personal information was accessed by hackers.
“"Some of our brand’s website capabilities may not be available as the investigation continues. We apologise for any disruption and will provide additional updates to our customers as appropriate," the company stated.
TFG has engaged external cybersecurity specialists to manage the incident, which has also been reported to the relevant UK authorities. Notably, TFG’s operations in Africa and Australia are unaffected as they run on separate systems.
