With Tata Consultancy Services (TCS) announcing that 80% of its new hires will possess digital and Artificial Intelligence (AI) skills, the company aims to enhance its profit margins. This decision comes as the share of AI-led work in TCS's overall revenue has risen to 10% in the recently concluded September quarter.
Growth in AI Revenues
Arathi Subramanian, the company's chief operating officer, stated that out of the 4,500 employees added in the second quarter, approximately 25% to 30% are focused purely on AI, while 80% represent new-age skills. She confirmed that this hiring trend will continue, as the desired talent is readily available in the market.
“"If a mid-level engineer is willing to learn, it gives a huge advantage because he or she understands what is the technology landscape, what is the domain," said K Krithivasan, the chief executive and managing director of TCS. He emphasized that both freshers and mid-career professionals willing to adapt will benefit in this evolving environment.
