Five men, all British nationals in their 20s from London, have been arrested on suspicion of terror offences at RAF Fairford in Gloucestershire. The arrests occurred on Sunday morning following reports of three vehicles approaching the airbase, which is currently utilized by the US Air Force for operations against Iran.

Arrest Details

The suspects, aged 23, 24, and 25, were apprehended shirtless near the base. According to police, three of the men resided in Westminster, one in Camden, and another in Willesden. They are being held under the Police and Criminal Evidence Act, with a custody extension secured until later on Monday.

Investigation Progress

The arrests were made in Whelford around 12:45 AM. The men are suspected of offences under the Explosives Act and preparation of a terrorist act contrary to section 5 of the Terrorism Act. Counter-terrorism police have stated that investigators are actively examining the scene and pursuing multiple new lines of inquiry.
