In a startling turn of events, new details have emerged regarding a suspected bomb plot at RAF Fairford, a key airbase operated by the US Air Force. On Sunday morning, a local farmer's vigilance may have thwarted a major attack after she reported suspicious activity in the area.
The Incident
Around 1 AM on Sunday, the farmer from Whelford encountered three vans blocking her path on a rural road near the airbase. She described the vans as being parked in a peculiar formation and noticed a group of hooded men nearby. After failing to reach the Ministry of Defence, she contacted the police at 1:36 AM, leading to a swift response from armed officers who arrested five men approximately 300 meters from the base.
The suspects, all UK nationals aged between 23 and 25, were initially detained under the Explosives Act and later on suspicion of preparing a terrorist act. They were released on bail the following day.
