On Sunday morning, approximately 85 properties in Whelford, Gloucestershire, were evacuated following the arrest of five men on suspicion of explosives offences. The suspects were later re-arrested on suspicion of terror offences but were released on bail by Monday. While some residents began returning to their homes late on Monday, a cordon remains in place around the village.
Security Concerns
Local representatives have expressed skepticism regarding the security response to threats allegedly made by Iran. In July, the Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps of Iran warned that any base used for aggression against Iranian territory would be considered a legitimate target.
