A Louisiana judge has sentenced Danette Colbert and Rickey White to lengthy prison terms for their roles in a criminal enterprise that led to the death of Adan Manzano, a reporter for Telemundo Kansas City, during the 2025 Super Bowl.
Sentencing Details
On Monday, Judge Nancy Miller sentenced Colbert, 49, to a total of 60 years in prison: 50 years for racketeering and an additional 10 years for negligent homicide. White, 35, received a 45-year sentence for his involvement in the same criminal activities.
The sentences were handed down just days after a jury in Jefferson Parish, Louisiana, convicted both Colbert and White for their roles in Manzano's death on February 5, 2025. Manzano, 27, had traveled to New Orleans to cover the Kansas City Chiefs' Super Bowl matchup against the Philadelphia Eagles. He was found dead in his hotel room in Kenner, Louisiana, just days before the game.
Cause of Death
The Jefferson Parish coroner's office reported that Manzano died from positional asphyxiation, with an autopsy revealing the presence of Xanax and alcohol in his system. Prosecutors stated that Manzano was one of many victims targeted by Colbert, White, and a co-defendant, Christian Anderson, who testified against them. The group allegedly lured unsuspecting tourists in the French Quarter with promises of sex, only to drug and rob them. This criminal operation reportedly dates back to 2012.
