Nigel Farage has denied that a Reform UK government would authorize lethal force against migrant crossings in the Channel. This statement comes just hours after Robert Jenrick, a Reform UK MP who defected from the Conservatives, suggested that the Royal Marines should be permitted to fire on boats.

Jenrick's Controversial Statement

In an interview with TalkTV, Jenrick stated, "What we are going to do, and we’re the only political party that has the courage to say this, is deploy the Royal Marines into the Channel. If they need to use lethal force, then they’ll be able to do so."

Farage's Response

However, speaking on LBC, Farage clarified that he would not authorize the routine use of force. He emphasized that it would only be used if soldiers were fired upon, asserting that Jenrick's comments were "utterly misconstrued." He stated:

“

"Anybody wearing British military uniform who gets fired at has the right to respond. That’s what he was saying."
