Zach Yadegari, the 19-year-old founder of the AI-powered calorie tracking app Cal AI, has experienced remarkable success since graduating from high school. At TechCrunch Disrupt on Thursday, he shared insights into his company's rapid rise to fame, which was largely fueled by a strategic deployment of influencers to promote the brand.
Rapid Growth and Acquisition
Founded in 2024, Cal AI has generated over $30 million in revenue within just two years and was acquired by MyFitness in March for an undisclosed amount. Yadegari highlighted that an early indicator of success was when a single influencer's post attracted approximately 1,000 new users in just two days.
“"From there, we figured out, okay, this can actually work for us, and so we started recruiting influencers as fast as we could — paying as many people as possible to start posting for us," Yadegari explained.
He described the influencer strategy as a clear and linear formula, noting that each post would yield a predictable number of viewers that would convert into users.
