Ambrosia Energy has announced the construction of a significant 10 gigawatt-hour battery factory near Austin, Texas. Co-founder and CEO Ben Longmier revealed the plans on stage at TechCrunch Disrupt in San Francisco on Tuesday. He stated, "That allows us to build about a 300 megawatt power plant per year out at our field sites."

Factory Details

The factory will cover 150,000 square feet, with plans to reach full production within two to three years. Ambrosia Energy emerged from stealth mode in June to develop power plants for data centers at a competitive cost of $100 per megawatt hour.

Technology and Operations

Longmier and co-founder Sara Spangelo have determined that combining solar energy with battery storage is the most cost-effective and rapidly deployable solution. Solar panels will supply power during the day, charging the batteries, which will then provide energy at night and on cloudy days, ensuring continuous operation of data centers.
