The last 24 hours have been some of the worst the Ghosh family has experienced. There has been no word on Ramprasad Ghosh since last evening, and with each passing hour, their anxiety grows. Ramprasad, a 41-year-old man from Ranchi, is among the 288 people reported missing after flash floods swept through parts of Nepal.
Context of the Disaster
The flash floods, triggered by an earthquake and an avalanche, have resulted in the deaths of 359 people and left 1,500 others missing. Of the 288 missing Indians, 73 were working on the Trishuli One hydroelectric site when the floods struck.
Family's Desperation
For the Ghosh family, the passage of time brings more dread. "We spoke to him last on Tuesday," says Ditya, Ramprasad’s sister-in-law. "There’s been no contact since." Ramprasad had been working on the hydroelectric project since last year.
