The Iranian military has demonstrated its capability to strike US positions in the Gulf, despite a six-month war and economic pressures described by the Trump administration as an "economic D-day."
Iranian Military Actions
On Thursday, the Iranian military announced that it had attacked the Ahmad al-Jaber air base in Kuwait, targeting satellite communication systems, equipment depots, and fighter aircraft hangars. The statement was broadcast on state television:
“"This morning, the army hit the satellite communication systems, equipment depots and fighter aircraft hangars of the terrorist US army at the Ahmad al-Jaber air base in Kuwait with missiles and drones."
Additionally, the Iranian military claimed to have struck the Al Minhad air base in the UAE, targeting the location of US forces and radar systems. In response, Kuwait's ministry of defense reported that its air defenses intercepted missile and drone attacks, labeling them as a "blatant Iranian aggression."
Regional Responses
The situation has escalated further, with Bahrain and Jordan also reporting that their air defense systems intercepted several Iranian air attacks on Wednesday. This increase in hostilities follows a US strike on Iranian rocket launchers in the Strait of Hormuz on Sunday, which the US claimed were intended for launching mines into the waterway.
