The Boox Palma 2 Pro, priced at $400, is a smartphone-sized e-reader designed for those who prefer reading books, articles, and documents on a small E Ink display. Unlike traditional e-readers, it runs on Android and supports Google Play, allowing access to third-party apps. This device is a blend of a Kindle and a compact Android tablet, making it a versatile option for readers.

Design and Comfort

What attracted me to the Palma 2 Pro was its size. I often read at night while lying on my side, and most e-readers are too bulky for this position. Although I own a Kindle, I frequently found myself reading on my iPhone for comfort. However, prolonged reading on a phone can lead to eye strain. The Palma 2 Pro addressed this issue during my two-month testing period.

The device features a front-lit screen with adjustable cool and warm lighting, which is particularly beneficial for nighttime reading without disturbing others. The brightness can be dimmed to an exceptionally low level, allowing for comfortable reading in complete darkness.

Portability and Usability

Weighing just 175 grams, the Palma 2 Pro is significantly lighter than my iPhone, making it easy to hold for extended periods. Its pocket-sized design means I could carry it everywhere, from the doctor's office to the airport, fitting comfortably in my small purse.
