Kenan ‘Ken’ Urker, 34, was found dead in his Louisiana home on his birthday, in what authorities are describing as an apparent drug overdose. Urker was the partner of Gypsy Rose Blanchard, who was convicted for her role in the murder of her abusive mother.
Discovery of the Body
The Lafourche Parish Sheriff’s Office confirmed that Urker was discovered on Thursday after relatives requested a welfare check at his residence. According to the sheriff’s report, Anita Blanchard, Gypsy Rose's half-brother's wife, went to Urker’s home and saw him lying unconscious through an outside window. A man accompanying them entered the house through a window and found Urker unresponsive.
Authorities reported that Urker was not breathing and was "cold to the touch." They found him lying on his back in bed, with paraphernalia, including syringes and a spoon, located in the bathroom next to a brown powdery substance. A syringe and a handgun were also found on the nightstand beside the bed.
Circumstances Surrounding Death
The sheriff’s office indicated that Urker appeared to have been deceased for an extended period. In an interview with People, Gypsy Rose Blanchard expressed her belief that Urker died from an overdose, though she was uncertain if it was intentional. "I don’t know if it was intentional or not," she stated, noting that Urker had not been in a good state of mind lately.
