A Flydubai passenger recounted a harrowing experience as their flight nosedived following an attack by a pilot on his colleague. The incident occurred approximately two hours into the flight from Dubai to Tel Aviv on Wednesday, resulting in a rapid descent of over 17,000 feet in less than two minutes.

Passenger's Experience

Adam Polovincik, 40, described how he hugged his six-year-old son and three-year-old daughter tightly, trying to reassure them as panic spread throughout the cabin. He praised the stabbed pilot and the courageous passengers who intervened to regain control of the aircraft, calling them "true heroes."

“

"At the end of the day, you understand very, very quickly that literally there is nothing that you can do at this point in time," Polovincik said.

The injured pilot is currently in stable condition at a hospital, while the alleged attacker has been arrested. Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu stated that it is too early to determine if Iran was involved, but noted that the attacker had undergone "Islamist radical indoctrination."

Incident Details

Polovincik, who was returning home with his family after a vacation in Singapore and Thailand, described the moment of panic as the plane experienced a "very, very, very sharp decrease in height." Initially, he thought it was due to an air pocket, but the descent continued for nearly a minute.
