The Ministry of External Affairs (MEA) announced on Tuesday that 163 Indian nationals have been rescued following the devastating flash floods in Nepal. This update comes as India continues its relief and rescue operations in coordination with Nepalese authorities.
Rescue Operations Underway
MEA spokesperson Randhir Jaiswal provided the latest information in a post on X. He highlighted the efforts of a 19-member specialized forensics team from India that began its operations in Kathmandu on Sunday. Additionally, a tunnel rescue team has been deployed in Nepal.
“"Tunnel rescue team: After establishing a foothold at hydropower tunnels in Chilime, the Indian tunnel rescue team had to overcome several challenges such as extremely restricted access space, limitations on use of specialized equipment due to terrain, and a marshy tunnel floor."
