A US Marine has been arrested on suspicion of murder following the discovery of a woman's body in a hotel in Okinawa, Japan. Local officials report that the victim, identified as Yagi Anna, 39, was found early Saturday morning in a hotel in Naha City, the capital of Okinawa prefecture.

Japanese Prime Minister Sanae Takaichi condemned the crime, labeling it a "brutal and heinous" robbery and murder. She urged the US to "enforce stricter discipline" among its personnel stationed in Japan.
The Marine Corps stated on social media, "We are actively cooperating with Japanese authorities, in response to allegations of serious criminal actions by a Marine," and extended condolences to the victim's family.
