Regular users of public transport in the UK have expressed their frustrations regarding antisocial behaviour, questioning the effectiveness of Andy Burnham's newly announced campaign aimed at addressing these issues. The campaign targets nuisance behaviours, including individuals who play loud music or videos on public transport.
““We’ve all been on the train when someone starts blasting music or videos from their phone,” Burnham stated. “It gets on your nerves and can quickly spoil the journey.”
Commuters Share Their Experiences
Six commuters shared their views on Burnham’s campaign, recounting their experiences with antisocial behaviour:
- Claire, 41, from London, noted that she commutes daily on the tube and frequently encounters individuals playing videos out loud. She expressed concern over the decline in social etiquette, stating, "It mostly saddens me that we have lost a basic sense of politeness."
- Margaret, 49, from Weston-super-Mare, highlighted the prevalence of loud phone calls and music, even in designated quiet carriages. She remarked, "No one enforces anything. I doubt this new law will change this."
