Former President Donald Trump revealed that he requested Google CEO Sundar Pichai to rename the Atlantic Ocean after himself or America, but the tech giant declined his proposal. This statement was made during a rally in South Carolina on Wednesday.

Trump's Proposal

Trump expressed his preference for the Atlantic Ocean and the Pacific Ocean, stating, "I’m not going to put either Trump or America on any other ocean but these two." He mentioned that he had reached out to Google Maps, which had previously complied with his request to rename the Gulf of Mexico as the Gulf of America.

“

"I said: ‘Sundar, I’m thinking of the Atlantic Ocean,’" Trump recounted.

Previous Name Changes

The former president also referenced his earlier executive orders that renamed the Gulf of Mexico and Lake Ontario as the Gulf of America and Lake America, respectively. These changes were part of his efforts amid a trade dispute with Canada.
